My name is Ariane and I’m an Afghan American storyteller and community weaver committed to supporting those who strengthen our social fabric, who honor peace & the mosaic of cultures across the globe, who stand for awakened (not blind) justice, and for placing the welfare of children & nature at the heart of all levels of innovation & decision-making.
I’m passionate about restoring relationships that have been disrupted by social, collective and generational trauma so we can accelerate our next level of human evolution beyond the therapeutic to the creative.
I facilitate experiential workshops for health, wellness, self-regulation, conflict resolution, and post-traumatic growth to support community building and develop joint collaborative actions for social change. Join me in person and online to explore how we can live up to the full creative potential of our humanity together.
Ariane Mahmud-Ghazi is a somatic psychotherapist, an integral life coach, a workshop facilitator & trauma consultant. Her professional background spans working as a reporter, family therapist, grant-writer, experiential educator, program coordinator, community advocate, faculty member, workshop facilitator and clinical supervisor.
Holding dual licenses in social work and massage therapy she provides an embodied, multidimensional approach to exploring being human & celebrates the transformative power of narrative and of the stories of Self we script at the crossroads where biology meets biography.
To foster peace & conflict resolution, she raises awareness of trauma as the root cause of violence, and highlights the personal, social and collective level cycles of escalation, re-enactment or numbing that can occur when trauma is left unresolved.
Psychological issues she addresses in her private practice include early childhood trauma, parent/infant mental health, attachment & bonding, parenting across the lifespan, life transitions, grief & loss, illness & health syndromes, accidents & falls, war trauma, surgery, exposure to violence, exile & asylum, anxiety, panic, and depression.
As a facilitator of Family Constellations Ariane offers workshops to uncover, honor and heal the unseen hidden wounds that may still be reverberating down the generations through the family tree. As a practitioner of Cranio-Sacral bodywork & The Feldenkrais Method®, she uses touch for energetic and functional integration, and offers Awareness Through Movement® classes for groups to help restore ease and fluidity in the body, translating into greater emotional range and freedom. As a yoga instructor she offers classes for addiction recovery, enhanced immune response, and emotional balance & stability. In addition, her writing & poetry workshops are playful explorations of our innate resources, moving us forward from the frozen scripts that bind us to silence, towards lives of full creative expression.

AWARENESS means being at once the spectator and the spectacle of our own experience, holding both the capacity to participate in our life and to observe our behavior and reactions at the same time. Directing our dual attention in this way gives us a feedback loop of self-reflection which allows us to re-adjust and course correct when we’ve strayed too far from what has heart and meaning for us.
Here are some of the lenses we play with in our individual and group work:
Social Work uses an ecological framework to view how we grow within environments that can impede or expand us, within the social contexts of family & parenting, community, culture, nationality as well as within our social, economic & political institutions, and in the collective & spiritual dimensions of our existence.
Family Constellations help us develop an awareness of the hidden intergenerational trauma that may still be reverberating down in our family tree which may continue to play out as creative blocks in our current living situation.
Touch & Bodywork address the healthy orchestration & interplay of our body’s physical, emotional, physiological & energetic systems through touch. Healing involves following the body’s story and restoring the inherent health that may have been disrupted by injury. This includes listening for the health and dis-eased relationships between various body systems, including the interplay of our energetic, skeletal, nervous, cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrine, immune, reproductive and digestive systems.
Somatic Psychotherapy develops the awareness of our mindbody connection by helping us better understand the relationship between the stories we speak of our lived experience and the stories of health and dis-ease we store in our body’s subconscious memory.
Biodynamic Cranio-Sacral Therapy provides an awareness of where energy meets matter in our body through the breath of life and the cerebral spinal fluid that runs down our spine and feeds our nerves and organs.
The Feldenkrais Method provides an awareness of movement and the ways in which we organize our functional physical experience of the world.
Yoga, Mindfulness & Meditation provide an awareness of our multidimensional selves throughout the chakra system.
